Lovers' Vows

Lovers' Vows

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop
545 7th Street, SE Washington

Discover a surprisingly timely play from a classical female playwright. Lovers' Vows is Elizabeth Inchbald's hilarious and thoughtful story of love, class and doing the right thing. Incredibly popular and controversial when it was written in 1798, Lovers' Vows is rarely staged now. It is perhaps most famous for its appearance in Jane Austen's Mansfield Park, but Lovers' Vows is a funny and moving play in its own right and has earned its place in the spotlight. Elizabeth Inchbald urges us to throw convention aside and step outside the confines of class and social norms to choose between the right choice or the popular choice. Featuring original music from D.C.-area band The North Country
