King Richard is off on the Crusades and Nottingham is at the mercy of the evil and corrupt Sheriff, who twists the law and persecutes the poor. When his father is falsely accused of a crime and imprisoned, impetuous teenager Robin, already a skilled archer and swordsman, has to grow up fast and devise a rescue. Friendship is tested and new alliances are formed as Robin fights against tyranny and injustice, with the unexpected help of the Sheriff's feisty daughter Marian.

"...The world premiere of Young Robin Hood, written by Jon Klein, at Round House Theatre, is a multi-faceted show. At first look, the production, directed by Derek Goldman, seems to be a simple story of the ever-familiar legend of Robin Hood, but on deeper reflection, the show is something so much more - a swashbuckling adventure. It's the story of the struggle between good and evil; between right and wrong, and the story of the vast disparity between the "haves" and the "have nots." And it's a coming of age story, full of comedy, love, and friendship."

"...The legend of Robin Hood-that noble outlaw who pursued justice for the poor and less fortunate and battled the abuses of an uncaring wealthy class-would seem to be a perfect subject for a contemporary, family-oriented reboot. Unfortunately, Young Robin Hood, now at Round House Theatre in Bethesda, Maryland, just doesn't succeed in making an audience care about its story or characters. It's talky, though enlivened by intermittent scenes of fight choreography, and it plods along."
