"..."The Object Lesson," which has toured internationally, runs a little long now and then as Sobelle ponders time and even allows nothing to happen while we watch in the semi-darkness. It's a mark of this show's appealing weirdness, though, that a passage with virtually no action turns out to be one of the best. It involves a story about a traffic light in the middle of nowhere, and it's peculiarly soothing to absorb the rhythm of a traffic signal when you're not actually trying to get moving."

"...The Object Lesson might be uncomfortable if you have a fear of being in enclosed spaces or dread of being roped into a show's antics (there is no escaping that, I'm afraid). It may also be physically uncomfortable for sitting on backless boxes for nearly two hours and possibly being amongst those who are forced to relocate at points throughout the show. If you have any physical needs, it would be wise to consult with an usher before the show. But it is truly a beautifully evocative, deeply compelling experience, and one I certainly will never forget."

"...While billed as a one-man show, Sobelle is sublimely supported by the intricate production design of Steven Dufala. The space demonstrates a tremendous imaginative capacity for how even the most banal of spaces can be transformed, particularly when a chorus of lamps lights up the perimeter toward the conclusion. It is such a unique space that you can easily imagine how you might find yourself lost in it forever."
