The Marriage of Figaro at The Kennedy Center

A comic opera wouldn't be complete without the usual hilarity of mistaken identities and unexpected surprises -- and The Marriage of Figaro is no exception. Widely regarded as Mozart's best and funniest work, the opera continues where The Barber of Seville left off, telling the story of a "single day of madness" at the palace of Count Almaviva. In the aftermath of his marriage to Rosina, the count's palace becomes a tangled web of love affairs -- the pageboy Cherubino courts the countess while the count pursues the maidservant Susanna, who is betrothed to the wily Figaro. As the count conspires to steal Susanna, Figaro, his fiancée and the countess maneuver to embarrass and expose the scheming count. Experience one of the craziest days seen on the operatic stage when The Marriage of Figaro heads to The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. for a performance in Italian with projected English titles.
