In this follow-up to The Three Musketeers, our hero D’Artagnan finds himself alone in the service of King Louis XIV after his comrades have retired. Unbeknownst to D’Artagnan, his old friends plan to remove the corrupt King, and replace him with his good twin, held captive in the Bastille! The Man in the Iron Maskpromises more swashbuckling blockbuster adventure, rich in bombast and pageantry. This production will have dialogue.

"...Sure, the show offers cartoonish heroics like Aliff's burly Porthos easily outfighting four swordsmen. It also prominently reboots Synetic's "Three Musketeers" image of the four noble friends - Athos and Porthos, plus Aramis (Ryan Sellers) and D'Artagnan (Shu-nan Chu) - galloping across the countryside, something that's wonderfully done as the actors move together like horses. Luckily, there is more behind this "Mask" than just ripping adventure and impressive technique."

"...The production itself is gorgeous and scintillating! From the jewel-toned costumes to a rotating set with one side the golden palace of Sun King Louis and the other side the dark, dank walls of the Bastille that look like severely scarred human flesh. And Irina Tsikurishvili's stunning choreography lights up the stage. The fight choreography and sword fighting co-directed by Ben Cunis and Vato Tsikurishvili is awesome!"

"...As directed by Paata Tsikurishvili and choreographed by Irina Tsikurishvili, Mills is the center of the production in his two roles-with expressive facial expressions as well as physical power-but all the featured performers get to show off. Louis is smug, preening as he claims a young man's fiancee as his mistress and insists on doing his own choreography at a party in his honor (the real "Sun King" was a renowned dancer), while Phillippe has to learn the nuances of court behavior in a very short time."

Scenic design was replete with a revolving structure that allowed action to continue to flow. The music, piped in from the front only, was a not so subtle mix of bombast, soaring horns and teasing sequences."

"...As expected for a story that follows Musketeers, Man in the Iron Mask is an adventure story, which is a terribly difficult genre to portray onstage. Movies can rely on quick cut chase scenes that move from place to place, but the theater has to be more inventive. Director Paata Tsikurishvili has worked some serious magic with his designers to ensure the constant change necessary for exhilarating action sequences. Brittany Diliberto's lights have huge contrast between dark and light but give the actors plenty of cover to perform some movement sleight of hand. Daniel Pinha's set is made entirely of moving pieces (a modular set is the technical term). But unlike most plays, which move a modular set only between scenes, Tsikurishvili has the actors move the sets during scenes to create the illusion of movement, especially as a part of dance or fight sequences."
