"... Myers is an engaging presence throughout, nicely jittery and haunted, and Stephanie Roswell calmly plays a character who —well, once she shows up, you’re pretty sure about where Charles stands, existence-wise. Ian Armstrong, Greg Gallagher and Nadia Mahdi take on the remaining 28 characters, some of which are sharp, but with many quickly fading into the overwritten haze."

"... How to Disappear isn't a bad play, but it's certainly disappointing. It could have emphasized salient points about working culture, or better explored the relationship between responsibility and guilt. Instead, Hovde embraced the histrionics of a twisted martyr with a heavy hand. Disappearing may be drastic, but at the very least, you'll consider an early exit."

The play is never more effective (or entertaining)than at the start of its second half, when Mike, playing Mephistopheles to Charlie’s Dr. Faustus, runs him through a rapid-fire gauntlet that allows him to shed his “Charlie” identity in favor of “Adam.” As the two characters cheekily slip through bureaucratic loopholes to secure a new birth certificate, driver’s license, and passport, the play takes on a kind of madcap energy, briefly allowing Charlie to ride the high of a new life.
