Rock Bottom is the story of the final day in the life of a rock band as it crashes and burns. The Blood Orphans were supposed to be the next big thing in rock, but today they find themselves washed up in Amsterdam, where bands go to die: a coke-fueled female manager, a sex addict drummer with a dark secret, a disgruntled bass player with a skin condition, a mistreated guitarist, and a born-again Buddhist frontman. It’s a darkly comic tour of frustration, danger, excitement, and just possibly, redemption.

"...Positive shout-outs: Talia Segal as the folksy singer-songwriter brightens things considerably in the second act with some of her own material. Baughman sings with gruff authority as the spacey frontman. Maia Henkin is a prostitute with perspective. But at two hours with intermission, “Rock Bottom” is a long, overcomplicated breakup."

"...The intimate DCAC venue was perfect for this show. There are only four rows of seating in the quaint theatre. The set is full of musical instruments. A guitar, bass, keyboard and a drum set fill most of the stage area. A bar top and two bar stools are near the front of the stage and a microphone stand in the center of the corner stage. The brick wall is painted black. It’s used to detail each scene and time frame as the characters move from the night club and the apartment to the streets of Amsterdam."

the play shambles along on the heels of Blood Orphans, a run-down four-member American rock band in the twilight of their potential. Dropped by a major label and sliding down the long hill toward irrelevance, the motley crew trips to a slow, painful halt in the red lights and dark recesses of nocturnal Amsterdam, where they nurse their guitars and, to a greater extent, their vices.
