"...Directed by Stevie Zimmerman and choreographed by Jordan Gehley, the action moves quickly and swiftly around the small playing area at 1st Stage, which is transformed into a stylized church hall by set designer Jerry Kearns. The costumes, by Cheryl Patton Wu and Jesse Shipley, capture the essence of 1940s British upper-class chic, both in London and the countryside."

"...The whole staging creaks at times with the giddy complications but is credibly helmed by Stevie Zimmerman, whose own English credentials are hardly in doubt. Her undergraduate degree is from Oxford University and her graduate work in directing was also in England, at the University of Leeds. "By Jeeves" marks her first fully staged production in the D.C. area following her family's move to Fairfax County last year."

How light is the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Alan Ayckbourn musical now playing at 1st Stage? Imagine a chiffon pie, covered with whipped cream and meringue. It is lighter than that. Imagine a field of chipmunks floating on helium balloons. It is lighter than that. Imagine The Unbearable Lightness of Being, made not only bearable but turned into a gigglefest. It is lighter than that.
