"...Striking and superb, 1st Stage's rendition of "The Glass Menagerie" accurately captures the pain and misery in Williams' play, set in a shabby tenement in St. Louis in the 1930s. Somewhat based on Williams' own life, the play focuses on the introverted Tom, his mentally ill sister Laura and his mother Amanda, who spend the play's running time only in their apartment. Audiences will be immersed in a stifling atmosphere, rife with dreams deferred and other dreams doomed."

"...This "Glass Menagerie" is accomplished without unneeded theatrical trickery. The haunting lingering cadence of Tennessee Williams' words are the key component. His words are lifted upwards and then float about by the heat of real candles glow. The final vexing "good bye" then pierces the heart of the audience."
