Synetic’s inaugural season in Crystal City will kickoff at the end of September 2010 with a new, wordless epic – King Arthur. Drawing from a rich pool of centuries-old myths and legends and starring Ben Cunis (most recently seen as Antony in Antony and Cleopatra) in the title role, King Arthur will weave together mystery, magic, heroes, and romance in a new adaptation that will see the legend reborn in Synetic’s signature mixture of movement, music, combat and drama.

"...Yet, with a production this viscerally exciting, you can ignore some of the redundancies and artier rationalizations and simply revel in the exhilarating visual style. (Simes's gorgeous gowns and faux-chain-mail get-ups for the knights assist in the illusions, too.) The cast, from Cunis down to the least-heralded of his Round Table cortege, conspires to confer on "King Arthur" acrobatic intensity and stunt-man panache. Even when water-based, Synetic's thrills are undiluted."

It slicks leather, arcs gracefully in the air, shimmers on bodies and slips seductively along a metal edge. The visual artistry and athletic prowess of Synetic Theater gets kicked up a few notches with King Arthur, which takes place on a watery stage. Normally, the audience gasps at the leaps and balletic contortions executed by the troupe on a wooden stage, but watching them pull off these feats in water is even more astounding.
