My Beautiful Darkened World at The Highwood Theatre

For Alina, light is unbearable. To escape, she seals herself in a darkened room for months -- only to find an unexpected source of hope and humor. My Beautiful Darkened World is an original musical inspired by the most unlikely of subjects: the shingles virus. It's also inspired by a true story. Writer, dancer, performer and improviser Alice Lipowicz came down with the little-understood virus and turned her misery into an opportunity, writing the songs that became the inspirational and humorous musical. Teaming with pianist Paul Rosenberg and vocalists Taunya Ferguson and Carlic Hyunh, Lipowicz brings this original theatrical cabaret show to the Highwood Theatre in Silver Spring.
