Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl's Late: A Cowboy Song is an innovative and entertaining look at one woman's search for meaning in all of life's uncertainties. With a cast of idiosyncratic characters, this equally funny and poignant story follows Mary, a young woman in a claustrophobic marriage. Mary's passive-aggressive, macho-effeminate sweetheart since childhood, Crick, just spent their savings on a painting. Meanwhile, Mary just gave birth to a baby of uncertain gender. Then she meets Red, a singing female urban cowboy, who opens up Mary's world. With Late: A Cowboy Song, MacArthur Fellow Ruhl crafts an original and thought-provoking work.
