A genetic researcher hires Fernelle, a 16-year-old linguist savant, to simply help translate the strange speech of a pair of her patients, who've been damaged by a genetic experiment and are now going through some sort of evolutionary change. But Fernelle's dad pushes her to discover more about these "mutagens," believing they hold the key to a universal language, and ends up regretting it when she begins to prefer their company over his. This comic sci-fi drama from Venus Theatre was penned by award-winning playwright Fengar Gael.

Similar to Devil Dog Six, Gift of Forgotten Tongues features a strong and talented young woman determined to overcome challenges to achieve professional and personal success. Yet while Devil Dog Six was firmly grounded in the real world details of horse racing, in Gift of Forgotten Tongues the playwright turns to the more fantastical conventions of science fiction.
