"...The premise is fine enough, but the show itself unfortunately has a number of weaknesses, beginning with Frances, played by Karen Lange, as she opens a refrigerator door to witchy spirits that come out and remind her that there is “More Work to Do.” It appears to be part flashback/part dream sequence, but the staging was clunky and the song would have been more believable if the women came together onstage in a collective opening, without all of the mystical embellishment getting in the way."

"...Under the direction of Laura Connors Hull, Campbell's script translates into a piece that with further fine tuning and potentially some additional evaluation of the musical numbers, could become a show whose quasi-magical message resonates more fully and whose characters live more naturally. Admittedly, I found the musical numbers a bit stilted at times. The play could benefit from smoother integration of these songs and perhaps a revisit of the relevance of at least a couple of the numbers, though I did enjoy Lange's wistful homage to her daughter, "Baby, I Can't Save You.""

"...A new work has emerged in the ethos of original musicals in the form of Creative Cauldron’s CHICKS IN HEAVEN. Like a mystical force emerging in the night sky, this magical tale of witchcraft, friendship, and the polarized state of our country has been conjured up in the intimate Falls Church space. It’s a dreamy tale full of mystical happenings with a feminist point of view and a heavy dose of political and social commentary mixed in, but it’s not always a smooth ride and leaves the audience with more questions than answers by the end."
