In this swingin’ 60s bedroom farce, an American architect living in Paris juggles relationships with three air hostesses, all employed by Boeing-Boeing airlines. Things are going swimmingly for the architect — due in large part to the help of his acerbic French housekeeper — until a friend from Wisconsin arrives unexpectedly and upsets the apple cart. Rep Stage will be one of the very first theatres in the country to mount the updated, Tony Award-winning 2008 Broadway version of “Boeing-Boeing,” which first ran in 1965. Rep Stage’s Producing Artistic Director Michael Stebbins will be featured.

The opening half-hour or so plods as Bernard the playboy painstakingly explains his brilliant scheme to Robert, a nerdy old pal from Wisconsin (who just happens to pop, unannounced, into Paris, where all this unfolds)."

"...Get a ticket and fly over to Rep Stage in Columbia, MD, for Boeing Boeing, a completely enjoyable bedroom farce. Boeing Boeing premiered in Paris in 1960 where it ran for 19 years and was first staged in English in 1962 in London's West End, where it enjoyed a five-year run with Patrick Cargill as Bernard. It was made into a movie starring Tony Curtis and Jerry Lewis, and the 2008 Broadway revival with a translation by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans earned Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Play and for Mark Rylance's performance as Bernard."

"...Boeing Boeing's characters are ridiculous, and logic dictates that you ought to resent Bernard for being such a lout, but a dose of good-natured humor makes the production as refreshing as a glass of champagne. There is an underlying message that technology only complicates human affairs, but the play is by no means bogged down by ideology. So take a Saturday night and buy a ticket for Boeing Boeing- you can always catch up on the latest episode of Mad Men next week."
