The Cultural Arts Center (CU) promotes learning, artistic expression, and community involvement through a diverse programming series that includes music, dance, and theatre, alongside college initiatives and partnerships with community arts organizations. Prioritizing the artist's experience, The CU also contributes to the field through commissions and residencies for new works, collaborating with local, national, and international partners. Situated in the Silver Spring Arts & Entertainment District on the Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus, THE CU embodies the college's values of Empowerment, Enrichment, Radical Inclusion, and Representation (EERR). Since its opening in 2009 with a performance by Aretha Franklin, it has fostered pride in being a venue for talent and profound cultural impact.
