The Most Happy Fella
3801 Harewood Road NE Washington
Nominated for multiple Tony Awards both during its original '50s Broadway run and its 1992 Broadway revival, The Most Happy Fella is a heartwarming musical written by Pulitzer-Prize winner Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying). Set in Napa Valley in 1927, this May-December romance focuses on Tony, an aging Italian grape farmer, who falls for Rosabella, a much younger waitress, and woos her through deception. Regarded as closer to an opera than a musical, the production, featuring tunes such as "Standing on the Corner" and "Big D" and beautiful ballads including "My Heart Is So Full of You" and "How Beautiful the Days," comes to Hartke Theatre Complex at Catholic University in Washington DC.
