"...The Olney Theatre Center in suburban Maryland is celebrating the opening of its newest performance space, the Bernard Family Theatre, with a delightful production of Some Like It Hot. Extensive renovations have converted Olney's Original Theatre, which opened in 1938 as a summer playhouse, into a fully flexible performance and event venue: in the case of this production, a thrust stage surrounded by cabaret tables and audience seating on three sides."

"...There’s reason to celebrate at Olney Theatre Center. Currently, they’re debuting their renovated Bernard Family Theatre while inaugurating the soaring new space with a regional premiere of “Some Like It Hot,” the musical adaptation of Billy Wilder’s classic 1959 comedy."

"...“Some Like It Hot” is a sizzling way to open the new Olney Theatre Center venue, the Bernard Family Theatre. Thursday, September 24, 2024 marked the official opening of both the new theatre and the musical. It was a real pleasure to watch the ribbon-cutting of this new stage. The new space is flexible and for this show, it was presented as a beautifully inlayed thrust stage with cabaret tables set up front for this production. (There was still mostly traditional theater seating.) It reminded one of an old vaudeville theatre. Much of the set (Scenic Design by Ryan Douglass and Projections Design by Matthew Rowe) utilizes an LED screen which displayed everything from the Chicago landscape to the inside of a 1930’s train car and even the posh Hotel Coronado. This is may be how backdrops are done more often in the future because it offers so much versatility."

"...Olney Theatre Center inaugurates its spectacular, newly renovated Bernard Family Theatre with a big, brassy production of Some Like It Hot, the 2022 Tony Award-winning adaptation of the great 1959 Billy Wilder movie. Olney’s cast and creative team pull out all the stops for a high-energy evening of song and dance, with an overtone of sweetness."
