Rooms, a Rock Romance Reviews

"...The impassioned direction by Thomas W. Jones II showcases both Shedd-Thompson's volcanic emotions and Schleigh's quieter but no less affecting performance. Musical director Matthew Stephens, at the keyboard, leads a rocking ensemble of two guitars, bass and drums."

"...This is a likable show, with likable leads, and a likable score. It has that cute girl-meets-boy, boy-loses-girl, boy-wins-back-girl vibe, all told in a brisk 90 minutes. This is a delicious froth and was a perfect antidote to a dreary, rather gray week. It is also the 10th anniversary of “Room,” which premiered at Metrostage in 2008."

"...However your tastes run musically, this is a show which will make you laugh and get weepy, and yes, believe humanity will make it through — “with a little bit of love.”"

"...To make up for the light plot, the serviceable, varied score (Goodman) gives Shedd-Thompson and Schleigh a vehicle for their solid voices. Shedd-Thompson sings "Bring the Future Faster" as a personal anthem filled with moxie, while Schleigh shines on "Clean", which details his eventual steps to sobriety. They're backed by a highly enjoyable five-piece rock band led by music director and keys player Matthew Stephens."
