Inspired to create a casual Italian restaurant in their own neighborhood, the culinary team behind Washington, DCs award-winning Ristorante Tosca opened the doors to Posto, a modern Italian place to meet, in December 2008. It is located in a beautiful, century-old building (which at one time was a car dealership!) on the newly re-energized 14th St. NW right next door to The Studio Theater, and just steps away from P St. and its hubbub of activity. As a proud new addition to the Logan Circle neighborhood, Posto serves classic and modern Italian dishes, and is the perfect place to drop in for a cocktail and a quick bite, or a multi-course meal shared with friends. At the bar, an enomatic wine dispenser keeps up to 24 wines by the glass at the perfect temperature. A custom-built, wood-burning oven located in the back of the dining room entices guests with the smells of just-baked pizzas and focaccia.

Panache Restaurant

1725 Desales St., NW
Washington DC 20036

Distance to Studio Theatre: 0.7 miles Get Directions

There is no denying Panache's elegance. The walls are done in a soft shade of wheat, the bar is long and sleek, and bouquets of flowers dot the dining room. But this is a restaurant-lounge with a wild streak: The dining room chairs are bright yellow, funky-cool artwork hangs on the walls, and some weekend nights, the line to get in stretches down the block. It's a jolt of energy across the street from the quiet Mayflower Hotel. Panache serves a range of small plates that make up a gustatory tour of Europe and beyond. Diners can also order one of the larger plates, which include seared sea bass with sour cherry fig sauce, and rack of lamb with pommery mustard and ancho-mashed potatoes.
