Potted Potter Coming to Shakespeare Theatre Company

Sidney Harman Hall

The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, is pleased to announce that Potted Potter, a seventy minute production featuring all seven Harry Potter books, will play in the Company's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) this fall. The production will run from September 5 - 15, 2013 and tickets are now on sale for the public.

Two unsuspecting comedians take on seven books of spells, potions and epic battles all in seventy minutes. Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing the Harry Potter series into an explosive improv piece. Taking cues from the ease of Reduced Shakespeare Company and on par with comedic parodies "Potter Puppet Pals" and "A Very Potter Musical," Potted Potter is a hilarious experience for both the Potter novice and expert. Whether audiences camped outside a bookstore for three days or don't know the difference between a Horcrux and a Hufflepuff, the comedy, magic and mayhem of Potted Potter makes for an entertaining and hilarious visit to the theatre. Written and performed by two-time Olivier Award-nominated actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, Potted Potter is a raucous adventure for ages six to Dumbledore.

The New York Times exclaims the show is "Breathless and...HILARIOUS!" while the Associated Press proclaims the show a "HIT!" In addition to being a critic's pick by The New York Times, New York Magazine and Time Out London, the show received the prestigious 2012 Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment & Family Show, playing to sold out houses worldwide.

Tickets for this special event are now on sale. To purchase tickets or to learn more, patrons can call the box office at 202.547.1122 or visit ShakespeareTheatre.org.
