Legally Blonde

This month the Drama Learning Center becomes the first resident theatre troupe in the Central Maryland area to produce the hit Broadway show Legally Blonde. The Teaching Young Actors (TYA) cast at the Drama Learning Center has been rehearsing for the past 3 months to bring the much adored musical to local theater enthusiasts from January 20-January 29. Tickets are still available but are selling fast. TYA is the Drama Learning Center's Teen Professional Company.

"We are thrilled to be the first acting troupe to bring such a fun and popular show to this community," said Stephanie Lynn Williams, owner and artistic director at the Drama Learning Center, who is also directing the production. "Our TYA actors are always looking for an opportunity to work on a production that has the audience highly engaged and Legally Blonde certainly gives them that opportunity."

Based on the MGM motion picture of the same title, the story follows sorority star Elle Woods who doesn't take "no" for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

"It's been really fun getting to do such an upbeat contemporary show!" adds TYA actress Alicia Carroll, a senior at Howard High School who was cast in the role of Serena. "Legally Blonde is one of my favorites and it's amazing to be a part of it."

The Drama Learning Center will host Legally Blonde for two weekends from January 20-29. The show is choreographed by Jenny Male and under the music direction of Tiffany Underwood Holmes. Cast members include: Meghan Anderson, Peter Augustine, Katie Bogdan, Alexandra Buell, Alicia Carroll, Claire Cerand, Vanessa Chapoy, Carter Grove, Kristina Hopkins, Hailey Ibberson, Barrett Law, Nick Mercer, Jeff Miller, Alex Press, Alexander Rothfield, Christina Schumacher, Brady Stevens, Laura Taylor, Amanda Updegrove, Anna Wehr, Amy Williamson, Sarah Winchell.
