Nu Sass Productions Unveils Bold 2026 Season

Nu Sass Productions has announced an ambitious 2026 season lineup featuring seven distinct productions that push theatrical boundaries and center marginalized voices. The Washington, DC-based company, known for championing gender equity in theatre, will kick off the year with a co-production before presenting a diverse slate ranging from historical musicals to Oscar Wilde classics.
Season Opens with Award-Winning Fringe Hit
The season launches in February with The H Twins, a co-production with Pinky Swear Productions marking the show's professional premiere. The production earned critical praise during its 2025 District Fringe run, with BroadwayWorld describing it as "alternately intriguing, dramatically involving, suffused with touches of bittersweet dark comedy."Set in 1940s Germany, the darkly comic musical follows identical twins Hilda and Helga as they dream of vaudeville stardom after secretly discovering American entertainment. Written by Hope Campbell Gundlah and directed by Karen Lange, the reality-bending variety show runs February 21 through March 22 at Nu Sass Theatre (1100 H Street NW, Suite 120).
Spring Brings Burlesque and Political Satire
The Sirens of Sin, Nu Sass Productions' gender-inclusive burlesque troupe, will present their spring showcase on March 22 and 29 at DC Comedy Loft and Bier Baron Tavern.April brings Everything, Devoured (April 17-May 10), described as a "ferocious queer ghost story" where Ronald Reagan appears as both demon and drag queen. Katherine Gwynn's script promises dark humor as a summoning ritual transforms into an exorcism confronting America's political past. Co-directors Tracey Erbacher and Ileana Blustein helm the production at Nu Sass Theatre.
Fall Schedule Features New Musical and Burlesque Mystery
The fall season opens in August with Brontë Sister House Party, Courtney Bailey's surreal comedy about the famous literary siblings trapped in purgatory, hosting endless parties. Kathleen Barth directs the production running August 28 through September 20.October features two productions: Pinky Swear Productions presents the world premiere of The Unsinkable Witch of Pungo, a new musical by award-winning songwriting team Seth Alcorn and Karen Lange, while The Sirens of Sin returns with Cluelesque, their popular "musical murder mystery burlesque" on October 11 and 18 at DC Comedy Loft and Bier Baron Tavern.
November brings The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde's beloved comedy of manners exploring mistaken identities among Victorian high society. Ileana Blustein directs the classic production.
The season concludes in December with Rent Party – The Sequel, Nu Sass Productions' second annual end-of-year fundraising celebration.
