This Halloween season, the Keegan Theatre is ready to unleash something loud, rebellious, and unapologetically fierce. Lizzie The Musical — the ferocious punk-rock retelling of the infamous 1892 axe murders — will run from October 31 through November 30, 2025, promising a night of gothic fury and rock-powered catharsis.

Directed and choreographed by Jennifer J. Hopkins, the show reimagines Lizzie Borden’s legend through a feminist and musical lens. "I'm so honored to be directing LIZZIE for Keegan Theatre," Hopkins said. "It's a story about dangerous women, or perhaps the consequences that result in denying them agency. Our production shares a version of Lizzie's story that exudes the struggle for power with rock music only survivors—and this wildly talented, powerhouse cast of performers—can generate. I invite audiences to come discover why Lizzie's story still resonates today, and to experience the roller coaster of caution and collision."

Lizzie explodes onto the stage with an all-female cast and a searing rock score. The musical tears open the story of Lizzie Borden, fueled by rage, rebellion, and retribution. Blending elements of gothic horror and riot grrrl attitude, it transforms the Victorian-era murder mystery into a raw, electrifying concert experience where, as the tagline warns, “blood will spill, guitars will wail, and justice will scream.”

The powerhouse cast includes Caroline Graham as Lizzie, Brigid Wallace Harper as Bridget, Sydne Lyons as Emma, and Savannah Blackwell as Alice, with Chloe Pearl and Hana Clarice serving as understudies.

The creative team behind the mayhem includes Marika Countouris (Music Director), Gabrielle Busch (Assistant Director), Sierra Young (Blood and Intimacy Coordinator), Deb Crerie (Dramaturg), Josh Sticklin (Scenic Designer/Technical Director), Sage Green (Lighting Designer), Alec Green (Sound Designer), and Logan Benson (Costume Designer).

Performances will take place Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 pm, Sundays at 3:00 pm, and on select Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:00 pm.

Keegan Theatre has also announced a series of special events throughout the run, including a Matinee Child Care option and a “Meet the Artists” Talkback on November 9, a Young Professionals Happy Hour on November 14, a Post-Show Discussion on The Erasure of Female and Queer Histories on November 16, and a Student Night on November 19.

With its bold mix of historical drama and rock concert energy, Lizzie The Musical promises to be one of the most talked-about productions of the fall. For audiences ready to experience a story that screams rebellion, revenge, and the raw power of women claiming their voices, this is one show not to miss.

Lizzie The Musical runs October 31 – November 30, 2025 at The Keegan Theatre (1742 Church Street NW, Washington, DC).
