Hamilton Returns to Washington, D.C. - Tickets On Sale Today
The room where it happens is about to get a lot more crowded. Hamilton, the genre-defying musical that reshaped what a Broadway show could sound like, is coming back to the nation's capital — and as of today, theatergoers can finally claim their seats.
Producer Jeffrey Seller and Broadway at The National have announced that single tickets go on sale to the public today, Thursday, June 25, at 12:00 p.m. The Washington engagement runs December 16, 2026 through February 7, 2027, turning the holiday season and the early weeks of the new year into a celebration of one of the most acclaimed musicals of the century.
The show lands at The National Theatre, the historic Pennsylvania Avenue house that opened in 1835 and remains the nation's oldest venue still presenting touring Broadway. Hamilton anchors Broadway at The National's 2026–2027 season, a marquee return for a production that ranks among the biggest titles in Broadway history.
Single-ticket prices will range from $53 to $281, with a limited number of premium seats available from $231 to $301 for all performances. There's a maximum purchase limit of nine tickets per account for the engagement. True to the show's tradition, a digital lottery will offer forty $10 seats for every performance — the long-running program that has put front-row seats within reach of fans who might never otherwise afford them. Lottery details will be announced closer to the engagement.
For anyone who has somehow managed to avoid the hype, Hamilton tells the improbable, fast-moving story of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton — an orphaned immigrant from the Caribbean who talked, wrote, and fought his way into the center of the American Revolution and the birth of a new government. It's a story of ambition, honor, rivalry, love, and the legacy a person leaves behind.
What set the show apart was how it told that story. Drawing on Ron Chernow's acclaimed biography, creator Lin-Manuel Miranda fused hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and traditional Broadway into a score that made an eighteenth-century political drama feel urgent and alive. Since its 2015 premiere — first downtown at The Public Theater, then on Broadway that August — the musical has been seen by more than 28 million people around the world and has left a lasting mark on culture, politics, and classrooms alike.
The trophy case backs up the acclaim. Hamilton has won 11 Tony Awards, a Grammy, Olivier Awards, and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. A filmed capture of the original Broadway company later reached a global audience on streaming, extending the show's reach far beyond the theater. Few productions of any era have traveled so far on the strength of word of mouth and a soundtrack people know by heart.
Hamilton features book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. The production's design team includes scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, with casting by Telsey + Company, Bethany Knox, CSA. Hamilton is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, and The Public Theater.
A Hamilton run in D.C. doesn't come around often, and a winter engagement at The National — steps from the monuments and museums the show so often invokes — is about as fitting a setting as the material could ask for. Whether you're a longtime fan or finally catching it for the first time, today is the day to plan your night out. Tickets go on sale at noon today, June 25, at Broadwayatthenational.com for the December 16, 2026 – February 7, 2027 engagement.
