Constellation Theatre Company 19th season

Constellation Theatre Company has revealed exciting news for Washington, DC's theatre lovers: the company's 19th season, aptly titled "The Expanding Universe," will debut in a new performance location at Atlas Performing Arts Center on H Street NE. Known for telling big, powerful stories in intimate settings, Constellation promises to bring its signature blend of spectacle, humor, and emotional depth to its new home with two wildly imaginative productions.

The season kicks off with "Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors" by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen, running January 23 through February 15, 2026. Directed by Nick Martin, this outrageous take on Bram Stoker's classic transforms gothic horror into laugh-out-loud comedy. With just five actors switching between multiple characters, audiences can expect campy seduction, physical comedy, and a rollicking reimagining of a legendary vampire tale.

In the spring, Liz Duffy Adams' witty and fast-paced farce "Or," will take the stage from May 15 through June 7, 2026. Directed by Constellation's Artistic Director Allison Arkell Stockman, the play dives into 1660s England to follow Aphra Behn-spy, poet, and the first professional female playwright-as she balances espionage, romance, and creativity all in one frantic night. The clever wordplay and rapid costume changes promise a hilarious celebration of art, freedom, and friendship.

The company said that additional fall events and immersive experiences tied to the season will be announced later this year. Tickets for the two mainstage productions will go on sale at a later date.

Constellation Theatre Company has long been a staple of DC's theatre scene. Since 2007, the company has captivated audiences with productions drawn from fantasy, farce, and epic adventure, all designed to spark curiosity and imagination. Their shows often feature original music, dynamic movement, and visually striking designs that transform the stage into breathtaking worlds. Recognized with the John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company in 2009 and the prestigious National Theatre Company Award from the American Theatre Wing in 2013, Constellation has built a reputation for adventurous, reliable, and intimate storytelling. As Metro Weekly noted, Constellation "does some of the best, most adventurous, most reliable work in town, all presented on an epic scale with a level of intimacy that can't be beat."

By moving to Atlas Performing Arts Center, Constellation strengthens its commitment to accessible, community-driven performance while offering audiences a fresh opportunity to experience theatre that is both intimate and grand. The upcoming season-filled with outrageous comedy, feminist history, and unexpected twists-underscores Constellation's mission to transport audiences to dramatic worlds where the action feels larger than life.
