Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein Reviews
MD Theatre Guide- Highly Recommended
"...Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre’s latest offering is a romp through Transylvania with “Young Frankenstein,” directed by Stephen Emery. Adapted for stage by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan from the Brooks and Gene Wilder classic 1974 film of the same name, the audience is treated to a very silly evening. This West End version of the musical is a spoof of all classic horror movies, most notably the 1934 Boris Karloff film adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 gothic masterpiece, Frankenstein. Throw a brilliant scientist, a formidable housekeeper (just ask the horses), two beautiful women, and a lumpy lab assistant into a castle and you come up with a monster run amok (just ask the villagers)."
