Dream Hou$e Reviews
MD Theatre Guide- Highly Recommended
"...Playwright Eliana Pipes' "Dream Hou$e" isn't afraid to scratch at the scab of human greed, as it takes a deep existential dive into the lengths that some will go to to ensure a comfortable and carefree life. Sisters Patricia and Julia are experiencing a bit of an identity crisis, along with a major housing dilemma as they grapple with how to go about selling their deceased mother's home. From here, "Dream Hou$e" takes a less conventional look at the topic of gentrification, one that searingly questions what is truly at stake when neighborhoods and houses move "forward" without looking back."

"...Throughout Dream Hou$e, Patricia and Julia aren’t just selling their childhood home, they are also struggling with their identities, not just who they are as sisters, but also their ethnicity and heritage as Latinx women. They often code switch when they are around Tessa and are pressured to deal with racist stereotypes placed on them by the Flip It and List It team in order to sell the house."

"...The concept of the "American Dream" is tossed around quite a lot. It's a concept that was originally dreamt up hundreds of years ago and has paved the way for an idealistic nation. It would have us believe that, despite where you come from, anything is possible in the land of the free and the home of the brave. But now, in a world that is rapidly changing, how might our image of this dream of American success differ, and what might it cost us to achieve?"
