"...But this is a solid bet for the family audiences that Olney is targeting with the holiday slot, a real shift after this fall’s tough-minded “Awake and Sing!” and “Colossal.” The show features puppets, flying effects, a surprise video sequence, a tap dance number, glorious singing from Nicholas Ward as King Triton and a brief but hilarious turn by Ethan Watermeier as Chef Louis, who merrily prepares a seafood meal and gives Troy Hopper’s droll Sebastian (the crab) a run for his money."

"...Stealing Ariel’s voice, as well as stealing the show, is none other than Donna Migliaccio as Ursula, the Sea Witch. With the assistance of her two eels, Flotsam (Nurney) and Jetsam (Robert Mintz), Ursula plans to take over the sea kingdom. I would argue to say that Donna Migliaccio’s Ursula is even better than the performance in the animated film. Don’t be one of those “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and miss her performance!"

this cast is nothing shy of exceptional. The talented multi-tasking ensemble serves as merfolk, sailors, chefs, puppeteers, dance corps, stagehands, fabric ocean wavers, and more. The number of costume changes alone seems exhausting, and that’s without considering Tara Jeanne Vallee’s stylistically diverse choreography and Mark Waldrop’s innovative, energetic staging. Oh, and lest we forget, they’re on on a raked stage.
