"...Hunter previously established himself as a skilled chronicler of red-state isolation in plays like “A Bright New Boise” and “The Whale” (which became a divisive-but-Oscar-winning 2022 film). He reaches for something profound by just letting these guys talk over increasingly whiskey-fueled, decreasingly mortgage-focused meetings in Keith’s six-windowed cube of an office, which scenic designer Nadir Bey eventually transforms into something more symbolic. He gets there, too."

"...A Case for the Existence of God depicts a kind of open-heartedness that the world dearly needs. And on reflection, the title may not be a complete misnomer after all; it may just be misleadingly truncated. A more honest iteration would add two crucially truthful words: A Case for the Existence of God Between Us."
Washington City Paper- Somewhat Recommended
"...Gambini’s savvy staging makes up for some of the dramaturgical stretches Hunter tasks his actors and audience with excusing. For instance, Ryan’s inflexible tether to Twin Falls is clear; his father’s death, his mother’s addiction, and an all-around challenging childhood and adolescence did little to set him up for success, and he didn’t have the means to leave."

"...Samuel D. Hunter is a playwright rapidly on the way to becoming an iconic voice of the blue collar, the downtrodden, and the frequently forgotten. Often based in Idaho (from where Hunter hails), Hunter's plays tend to position the world from the perspective of one who desperately holds onto hope despite the ostensible hopelessness of a given situation-and so it goes with "A Case for the Existence of God." Mosaic Theater Company presents this compelling, harshly lonely at times, and deeply engrossing play about what it means to find true friendship amid some of the most difficult challenges that life can throw at you."

"...A Case for the Existence of God at Mosaic Theater is a touching, quietly powerful story of an unlikely friendship and a mighty bond between two fathers striving to secure the futures of their baby daughters despite the many challenges life presents."
