John Finch is an uptight animator working on Disney’s Alice and Wonderland, who also happens to be in love with his secretary – Alice. Alice is young woman who knows she wants something more from life. Salvador Dali is a force of nature. When Dali arrives at the studio to create his own animated short, he turns both of their lives into a tornado mixture of Surrealism and Wonderland! Can he create more than he destroys?

"...Oh Frabjous Day!! I must say, the toves were slithy! And gyring and gimballing were happening all over the stage! And, this take on the creation of Alice in Wonderland really lived up to its promise. The surrealism of the piece could easily have torn the work from reality, but its firm grounding in the cementing of the artistic process kept its spirit alive, while binding it into a usable form. Flying V’s Lobster Alice is a show that will leave you joyful without letting you know why you’re happy. This was an accomplishment."

"...This play is surely a magical experience of mythic proportions as, on a single set of Finch’s office, we are transported in and out of the minds and experiences of Finch, Alice and Dali until at some moments you are no longer sure whether you are experiencing reality or something else. As with Dali’s paintings, there is always something hidden that a new perspective may give light to—a moment comically shown as Finch hops around on stage showing Alice different angles on Dali’s sketches."

“I see the head of Voltaire” Alice says in Kira Obolensky’s Lobster Alice, looking at a painting by Salvador Dalí in a certain way. Things are seldom what they seem in the famous surrealist’s work. The same can be said of Flying V’s awesome production set in a Walt Disney animator’s office.
