"...When it clicks, though, it’s often because Jamie Smithson, as Robert, strikes a blissful little seam of physical absurdity. Smithson plays Robert with a hint of Ed Grimley’s twisted stance, if you recall that Martin Short character; he even channels a bit of the Grimley cadence and is unafraid of Jim Carrey-like whiplash outbursts and manic grins."

"...Boeing Boeing is a classic of modern farce. Written in 1960 in France, Boeing Boeing was immediately successful and was quickly translated into English by Beverley Cross. A Broadway revival in 2008 garnered several Tony nominations and kept the show alive in the popular theatre consciousness. Although it has a storied legacy, No Rules’ Boeing Boeing is as fresh, sharp, and funny as when it debuted decades ago. Featuring strong performances from the entire ensemble, clever staging by director Matt Cowart and exemplary design, Boeing Boeing kept the audience in stitches from beginning to end. It is easily the funniest DC area production I have seen in a long time."

"...No Rules Theatre Company’s production of Boeing Boeing is the comedy Washington theatergoers have been waiting for since March 3, 2012. That would be the day that No Rules, a small company in residence at Signature Theatre, closed its last production of a ’60s screwball European play. Like Black Comedy, Boeing Boeing is helmed by Matt Cowart, an über-talented young director who graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts along with the cohort of actors who formed No Rules in 2009. After racking up yet more assistant director credits in New York—including the recent Emma Thompson–starring Sweeney Todd—Cowart is back, and so is a reason to go the theater just for laughs."

it’s Jamie Smithson’s awkward bumbling that steals the show. Smithson has an almost rubber-like quality to his face that’s perfect for comedy. He’s got crazy eyes and a wild tongue, and he doesn’t hesitate to throw himself across the room or wag his posterior at the audience to sell a gag.
