Avenue Q

Avenue Q

Olney Theatre Center
2001 Olney-Sandy Spring Rd. Olney

Full of racy puppets and boisterous songs, Avenue Q is a hilarious look at life in New York City, in a world populated by both people and puppets. In its Broadway debut, Avenue Q scored the "Triple Crown" of Tony wins, grabbing honors for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. The lovable cast includes characters made of both flesh and felt: recent college grad Princeton, who moves to the low-rent Avenue Q full of hope for the future, Kate, the girl/monster next door, Rod, the Republican Internet "sexpert," and other colorful neighbors who help Princeton discover his true purpose in life through songs like "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" and "What Do You Do With a B.A. in English?" While the show draws inspiration from Sesame Street, you'll want to leave the kiddos at home for this one -- these puppets have quite the mouths on them, and there's some "full puppet nudity" involved.
