The Submission follows Danny, a gay, white playwright as his play gets accepted at the nation's preeminent theater festival. Trouble is, everyone thinks his stirring new play about an alcoholic black mother and her card sharp son trying to get out of the Projects is written by Shaleeha G'ntamobi...and she doesn't exist. Winner of the 2012 Outer Critics Circle John Gassner Award, The New York Times calls The Submission "a perky tale of racial pride and prejudice in the theatre."

"...Sounds like a zippy satire of the timid American theater is strutting forward, right? Yet Talbott shies away, leaching out the laughter, diverting his gaze from the stage and its discontents. Instead, he goads Danny and Emilie (who initially buys into Danny's scheme) into self-righteously insulting each other over and over. That way, we can all get our hidden bigotries out on the table."

"...Together the cast mostly plays well against each another. While the romantic relationship between Hough and Dolezel lacked chemistry, I totally bought the "opposites attract" connection between DeJulio and Butler. Most importantly, DeJulio and Hough fare perfectly as colleagues turned "frenemies." Their must-see climactic confrontation was so believable I wanted to jump out of my seat to intervene."
