"...The Mountaintop by Katori Hall is a remarkably affecting play full of humanity, faith, unexpected humor, and the Almighty. Strikingly directed by two time Helen Hayes award recipient Kevin S. McAllister, The Mountaintop envisions what might have happened after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous speech in Memphis, Tennessee in support of striking sanitation workers in early April 1968."

"...The Mountaintop is worth watching as much for its performances as its message. Curtis McNeil seems comfortable in the Reverend’s shoes, never lacking in charm but clearly haunted by the weight of the tasks in front of him. Simmons commands the room as Camae, who comes from a humble background but is more than capable of sparring effectively with her larger-than-life customer. The pair have terrific chemistry, whether they’re sharing a cigarette, teasing each other over his holey sock and smelly feet, or sincerely debating what sort of message King should be delivering to his loyal followers. Seeing the two sizzle on stage together is one of the main reasons The Mountaintop effectively resonates."

"...Script aside - NextStop Theatre's production of The Mountaintop features a unique stage configuration by Evan Hoffmann which allows for audience members to sit closer to the stage. There are a lot of set details that make it feel like a real motel such as worn down chair or the card on the back of the door. The lighting, designed by Lynn Joslin, and sound, designed by Yaritza Pacheco, creates a storm atmosphere well for the play."
