The Emperor of Atlantis

The Emperor of Atlantis

Atlas Performing Arts Center
1333 H Street NE Washington

Described as a visionary "music-theatre" epic, The Emperor of Atlantis was written during the Holocaust in Terezin but ultimately censored by the Nazis. This haunting opera examines humanity's resilience, redemption, and the survival of love and art against all odds and the In Series brings life to the piece with a new English adaptation written and directed by Nick Olcott and conducted by Stanley Thurston. The piece is presented alongside a staged version of Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale, choreographed by Jaime Coronado and based off of an adaptation by Rick Davis.
