"...Comic relief, anyone? That’s the invitation of director Alan Paul’s madcap, semi-musicalized “The Comedy of Errors” at the Shakespeare Theatre Company, and the show has a sort of knockabout elegance. Paul honors the mistaken identity plot’s pratfalls and gross jokes, and he has a sturdy cast led by Gregory Wooddell and Veanne Cox, with Cox in particularly delectable form as a lovelorn wife oozing verse and desire."

Noone's whimsically designed fish market sets the stage for one uproarious scene that features a still-alive squid pulsing on a diner's plate. Tom Story, in a throwaway role as the town's goldsmith Angelo, can make even walking through the door of a house an hilarious undertaking."

"...There's nothing quite like a case of mistaken identity to really spice up a relationship. This is a lesson learned the hard way for Adrianna, wife of Antipholus of Syracuse, in Shakespeare Theatre Company's newest staging of The Comedy of Errors. As if dealing with one set of twins didn't provide enough twists for both the characters and the audience, Shakespeare's work throws two pairs of twins into the mix. While it takes a little while for this staging to settle into a groove, Alan Paul's deft direction supplies some of the finest comedic moments of the D.C. theater season thus far."
