Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), a staple in the DC area for exceptional theatrical experiences for young audiences, has announced its 2025/26 season, "Timeless Tales." The upcoming season promises a collection of almost entirely new productions to the ATMTC stage, focusing on universal themes that aim to connect and unite audiences while offering valuable insights into the human condition.

Kurt Boehm, Adventure Theatre MTC Artistic Director, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, stating, "This season really furthers the universal themes of children developing emotional resilience and understanding their own identities through our own folly. We are taking the time to look to the past to self-reflect on where we've been and how we're going to move forward. This season, Adventure is thrilled to bring back some of our favorite directors including Serge Seiden, Shanara Gabrielle, and Ray Ficca in addition to welcoming new artists Janet Stanford and Danny Tippett. We learned so much in our 2024/25 season, and we're expanding on that knowledge as we head toward our 75th anniversary.""

Below is a show-by-show look at what families can expect when the lights go up this fall.

Not Your Mother's Goose
October 3 - November 2 | World Premiere
Helen Hayes Award-winner Serge Seiden directs this brand‑new romp from former ATMTC Artistic Director Michael J. Bobbitt and long‑time collaborator Sandra Eskin. Nursery rhymes collide and collapse in hilarious fashion as audiences wander through "Gooseville," meeting familiar characters who can't quite keep their stories straight.

Frosty The Snow Man
November 26 - January 11
A seasonal staple returns! William Francis's musical has been melting hearts since it first danced onto ATMTC's stage in 2008. Director Danny Tippett dusts off the top hat once again for a production brimming with sing‑along cheer-ideal for kicking off the holidays.

Freckleface Strawberry
February 13 - March 29
Based on the picture book by Academy Award-winner Julianne Moore and illustrated by LeUyen Pham, this upbeat musical celebrates self‑love and acceptance. Helen Hayes nominee Shanara Gabrielle (fresh off her co‑direction of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe) takes the helm, inviting kids to embrace the very freckles-or quirks-that make them unique.

Aesop's Fables
April 24 - May 24
Director Ray Ficca (who turned Dragons Love Tacos into a five‑week sell‑out) serves up warmth and wit with four classic moral tales-including The Tortoise and the Hare. Expect puppetry, humor, and just the right dash of wisdom.

Sleeping Beauty: The Time Traveler
June 18 - August 23
Closing the season is a brand‑new musical adventure written and directed by TYA legend Janet Stanford. Loosely inspired by Grimms' Briar Rose, the story catapults audiences through time as its heroine discovers freedom, courage, and just a hint of magic.
