Adventure Theatre MTC Brings Percy Jackson's World to Life in The Lightning Thief

Get ready for an epic mythological adventure as Adventure Theatre MTC presents The Lightning Thief - TYA Version, a dynamic musical adaptation based on Rick Riordan's popular Percy Jackson novel. Under the direction of ATMTC Artistic Director Kurt Boehm, this fast-paced 70-minute production launches June 27, 2025, and welcomes audiences ages 5 and older.

Whether you're a young demigod discovering this story for the first time or a longtime fan of Percy Jackson's epic saga, this show promises a theatrical journey worthy of Mount Olympus."

The production tells the story of Percy Jackson, a teenager who learns he's actually the son of the sea god Poseidon. When Zeus' powerful lightning bolt goes missing and threatens to spark a war between the ancient gods, Percy must undertake a dangerous mission to find it. Along the way, he faces mythical creatures, deciphers ancient prophecies, and discovers his own heroic potential. This single-act version of the Broadway musical combines exciting songs with themes of courage, friendship, and self-discovery, bringing Greek mythology into contemporary storytelling.

The original production earned significant recognition, including nominations for the Lucille Lortel Award, Off-Broadway Alliance Award, and the 2017 Drama Desk Award, establishing it as a celebrated blend of music and mythology.

This production represents an excellent opportunity to introduce young audiences to the magic of live theater.
