Caps For Sale

Adventure Theatre MTC, as a part of the Women's Voices Theatre Festival, brings the classic folktale and book by Esphyr Slobodkina, CAPS FOR SALE, to the stage on its 75th Anniversary with a limited three-week world premiere engagement, September 11- 27, 2015. CAPS FOR SALE, THE MUSICAL will then pack up its caps on a National Tour, October 5-November 28, 2015, to over 17 cities and finally end its monkey business Off-Broadway at The New Victory Theater February 27- March 6, 2016.

"Caps! Caps for sale! Fifty cents a cap!" The cap peddler, wears a huge stack of caps, balanced carefully on top of his head. Brown caps, blue caps, gray caps, and red caps. When no one buys a cap, he takes a nap under a shady tree. But, when he wakes up, the caps are gone! Was it bears, pirates, one thousand thieves or a band of merry mischievous monkeys? Co-adapted by Ann Marie Mulhean Sayer and Michael J. Bobbitt with music and lyrics by William Yanesh, directed by Ovation Award-nominated Patrick Pearson and a part of the Women's Voices Theater Festival, this folktale cleverly illustrates the saying, "Monkey see, monkey do."

The entire cast of the World Premiere will reprise their roles on the National Tour and the Off-Broadway Transfer, Alan Naylor starring as the peddler with Danny Pushkin, Sean Elias, Bibi Mama, Chelsea Baldree, and Rebecca Tucker.

Michael J. Bobbitt, Producing Artistic Director at Adventure Theatre MTC says of the experience, "The response to this World Premiere has been tremendous and we are pleased to be able to create great works like this musical. Not only that, but we're so proud that DC gets the first look at the production before it goes Nationwide. It speaks to the quality and the value of Theatre for Young Audiences in DC, and we hope our audience responds."

Tickets are available for sale at $19.50 and patrons can save 20% on tickets and fees with a Flexpass. For more information about Adventure Theatre MTC, call 301-634-2270 or visit www.adventuretheatre-mtc.org.
