The American Century Theater presents On The Waterfront

The American Century Theater will present the stage version of the 1954 movie classic On The Waterfront about union violence and corruption on the New York docks, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Budd Schulberg.

The longshoremen of On The Waterfront work and live in the tough, Mob influenced world of New York's dockyards. These men have limited options - and the economic system they have inherited renders any choice a negative. Yet in these circumstances, we find hints of faith, conscience, love and brotherhood emerge.

Kathleen Akerley returns to TACT for this unique project, with an ensemble cast that including Dan Corey, Joe Cronin, Matt Dewberry, Cyle Durkee, William Hayes, Tyler Herman, Chris Herring, Christopher Holbert, Graham Pilato, Jack Powers, Bruce Rauscher and Caitlin Shea.

Kathleen Akerley directed TACT's 2011 production of Beyond the Horizon. Other local credits include Everything Between Us and The Small Things (Solas Nua), The Graduate (Keegan Theatre), shksprprjct (Catalyst Theatre, Helen Hayes nomination for Outstanding Choreography), and WSC's Avant Bard, where she will be directing Sam Shepard's The Tooth of Crime later this spring. Kathleen is the Artistic Director of Longacre Lea, where she has directed, among other plays, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, which received a Helen Hayes nomination for Outstanding Ensemble).

On The Waterfront's Assistant Director is Kristen Pilgrim. Technical Director is Jonathan Hudspeth, Elizabeth Jenkins McFadden is the Set Designer, Neil McFadden is the Sound Designer and Marianne Meadows is the Lighting Designer. Alison S. Johnson is the Costume Designer and Rebecca Dieffenbach is the Properties Designer. Sarah Conte is the Stage Manager and Jacob Lunsford is Master Carpenter.
