Olney Theatre Center Kicks Off Season with You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown

Olney Theatre Center, the award-winning, year-round arts and entertainment destination, is proud to announce the first production of the 2012 season, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The production is set to grace Olney Theatre Center's mainstage from February 22 to March 18, 2012.

Charles Schulz's classic Peanuts gang jumps from the newspaper page to the stage in this lively, family-friendly musical. Directed and choreographed by Stephen Nachamie with Musical Direction by Christopher Youstra, this dynamic duo comes together to direct this intimate and heart-warming production, which is bound to charm audiences, young and old alike.

Award winning director, Stephen Nachamie, brings his extensive work experience from Broadway productions (Funny Girl and Chess) and national tours as well as his work with regional and local theatres to this production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The five time Helen Hayes Award Nominee and Helen Hayes Award Recipient for the Musical Direction for Titanic: The Musical in 2008, Youstra, most recently music directed the Olney Theatre Center hit musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie, Camelot, Peter Pan and 1776.

"This classic story of Charlie Brown and his friends is known by people from every generation," said Olney Theatre Center's Artistic Director Jim Petosa. "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown delivers the story that the audience knows and loves with an added musical twist."

This production will also bring together some of Olney Theatre Center's longtime regular cast members, including James Gardiner playing Snoopy; Janine Sunday playing Lucy Van Pelt; and Vishal Vaidya playing Schroeder; as well as actors that are making their Olney Theatre Center debut, including Zack Colonna playing Charlie Brown and Jaimie Kelton playing Sally.

James Gardiner is excited to return to Olney Theatre Center as another famous canine after appearing as Buck in Call of the Wild. Gardiner is also known for his Broadway work including Glory Days as well as his work for other local theatres, including Signature Theatre, Ford's Theatre and Arena Stage. Four-time Helen Hayes Award Nominee Janine Sunday returns to Olney Theatre Center after starring in a number of productions throughout the Baltimore-Washington D.C. Metro Area. Vishal Vaidya was most previously seen in the Olney Theatre Center productions of Godspell and Big River as well as in the National Tour of Barrio Grrrl!

Zack Colonna and Jaimie Kelton are thrilled to make their Olney Theatre Center debuts. Colonna was in The Brand New Kid National Tour as well as the Fringe Festival Best Musical in New York. Kelton brings her experience of touring overseas in Japan, performing in the National Alliance for Musical Theatre Festival and as a performer on the Disney Cruise Lines and on television to Olney Theatre Center.
