Frozen Reviews
Washington Post- Somewhat Recommended
"...Elsewhere, director Alan Muraoka's production seems less inspired than dutiful, weighed down by considerations of its megahit source material. Still, judging by the ecstatic response of the audience on opening night, the show is a crowd-pleaser that's a good bet for families and anyone who can't let "Let It Go" go. The proceedings certainly benefit from Alex De Bard's engagingly chipper Anna, Ricky DeVon Hall's gruff but charming ice seller Kristoff, and a sauna that unpacks like a clown car during a paean to "Hygge.""

"...The technology involved with Disney's Frozen now playing on the Roberts Mainstage at Olney Theatre Center threatens to steal the show, but a young, talented cast - many of whom are from the DMV - demands equal billing."

"...There's a lot to enjoy in the production of Disney's Frozen now on the Roberts Mainstage of the Olney Theatre Center in the Maryland suburbs of Washington. Director Alan Muraoka has crafted a tight ensemble of performers; Patrick Lord's projection designs on Paige Hathaway's set bring the vastness of fairy-tale northern Europe to life with radiant color and abundant detail (Christina Watanabe's lighting design adds to the spectacle with a shimmering Aurora Borealis on panels above the stage); and Kendra Rai's costumes suggest the original Disney animation without being overly literal."

"...The top-tier cast shines in certain moments, especially during "Let It Go," the hit song, which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide and garnered over three billion views on YouTube. Throughout the show, Gabriela Hernandez brings a dignified vulnerability to Elsa, while Taylor Esguerra captures the budding strength of Young Elsa. In this number, Christina Watanabe's lighting and Matthew Rowe's sound design, combined with fog, sparkles, and gusts of wind, create a wintry landscape that amplifies Elsa's journey to self-empowerment."
