"...Yet Salgado's show powers through a lot of issues thanks to its inclusive cross-cultural nature and its international cast. Having actors from all over is not unusual at GALA, but with about 25 onstage performers, a band of 10 plus three student artists, this ensemble is substantially bigger than most."

"...The theme of hard work - "dar mas" - runs through Fame and it was not a coincidental choice of material for a creative team that works hard to stake a claim a country that often discounts the contributions of minority populations. As Salgado pointed out in post-show comments from the stage, "As a minority community we keep working hard to prove to those who say we can't that yes, we can.""

"...Directors, designers and cast work together seamlessly to portray students making their way through classes and rehearsals, laughing, playing, struggling and jostling each other as they strive to achieve their dreams. They slam through life with ambition, drive and full throttle voices. The pictures from the show give an idea of the high flying choreography - ratchet that up to the ceiling to get an idea of the breathtaking routines, matched by soaring voices that hit the roof."

"...On such a small stage, set changes can seem chaotic. The end of "I Want to Make Magic" is eclipsed by the need to move chairs and staircases. Activity at the lockers, which are beautifully designed to grow to infinity, occurs just out of view. The series of images projected on these lockers also appear white-washed under the lights. This doesn't take away from the production's great use of a grand piano, ballet barres and rolling chairs to create different settings within one scene. The use of the audience, rafters and side stage uniquely extend the space."
