What if Shakespeare hadn't written Macbeth in 1605 and instead wrote about the foiled Gunpowder Plot, where conspirators attempted to blow up the King and Parliament? Bill Cain's playful and witty comedy poses the question and explores the moral obligation of artists to resist the manipulations of those in power. The sovereign has commissioned a play on the plot, but as Shakespeare and the King's Men acting troupe investigate the story they discover that the King's version might, in fact, be a cover-up. Do they speak truth to power -- and perhaps lose their heads? Or take the money and lie? Or a third option -- equivocation? Find out at the Silver Spring Stage.
