  Deathtrap at Silver Spring Stage

Silver Spring Stage
10145 Colesville Road Silver Spring

Deathtrap, the longest-running comedy-thriller on Broadway, slayed audiences for years with its masterful mix of razor-sharp wit and suspense, and now it'll be brought back to vibrant life by Silver Spring Stage. In this diabolically-told tale by Ira Levin (The Stepford Wives, Rosemary's Baby), a once-successful and now-desperate playwright embarks on a fateful collaboration with one of his college-seminar students in pursuit of a much needed hit. But their partnership kicks off a series of murderous plots and thrilling twists that'll keep you guessing "whodunit" right up to the final curtain.

DC Metro Theater Arts - Highly Recommended

"...The opening of Ira Levin's Deathtrap this weekend marked the start of the 50th Season for Silver Spring Stage. The play, which opened on Broadway in the late 1970s, is a suspense thriller with lots of laughter. The play, directed by Roxanne Fournier Stone and produced by Alika Codispoti, is full of plot twists that will have you on the edge of your seat."

MD Theatre Guide - Somewhat Recommended

"...Overall, Silver Spring Stage's "Deathtrap" has some entertaining moments thanks to the fully engaged cast and good production values. Playwright Ira Levin's script, however, doesn't provide enough suspense, witty lines, and interesting characters in order to save this play from the sometimes deadly, unsophisticated scenes. But, what do I know? The play, after all, was nominated for a Tony for Best Play in 1978."

"...You feel the feverish chill of something suspenseful about to happen. There is a prickle at the hairs on the back of your neck, a tingle that flickers up your spine, and the ever so sudden jolt of your entire body when you hear anything sounding remotely close to a gunshot. You’ve contracted a terminal case of Thrilleritus malignus! And your only hope for a cure is going to see Silver Spring Stage’s production of Ira Levin’s Deathtrap. Directed by Roxanne Fournier Stone, Broadway’s longest-running comedic thriller gets Silver Spring Stage’s 50th season underway with a bang, in fact, with several of them. It’s an intriguing tale of suspense, and a suspenseful tale of intrigue, all wrapped around two acts, five characters, and lots of dark humor lacing it all together like a morbidly delightful bow."
