"...Ah, the ubiquitous balloon! The festive party decoration and magical childhood toy is the centerpiece of “Balloonacy” at Imagination Stage. This whimsical production is a reimagined rendition of the classic film, “The Red Balloon” when a young boy is relentlessly followed by the eponymous object. In this stage version written by Barry Kornhauser, the young boy is presented as a lonely old man who lives alone in a dreary apartment. Unexpectedly, a red balloon arrives on the Old Man’s birthday. This surprising disruption causes cascading shenanigans in the apartment, and hilarity ensues when the balloon upends the Old Man’s monotonous daily routine."
