Art Reviews
MD Theatre Guide- Highly Recommended
"...The production highlights the deep well of the actors’ talent and is complemented by a minimal and gorgeous set design by Paige Hathaway and equally beautiful lighting by Harold F. Burgess II. Two chandeliers float above three white chairs and a coffee table in the center, set off by the simple set painted in deep, wine tones. Sliding, back panels separate scenes and locales. It is sumptuous in its simplicity. Everyman never disappoints and “Art” is no exception."

"...Jeannette Chrstiensen's understated work as the show's costumer deserves a nod of praise. There's nothing overly flagrant about her designs but the color palette featured on the Serge character, by comparison to both what's used on the other two characters and the utter absence of color in 'The Antrios' and the monochromatic purple concept of Paige Hathaway's set, creates a lovely balance in the visual world of the production."

"...Everyman Theatre puts on a lot of highbrow theatrical performances. Honestly, I was stunned (delighted, but also stunned) to see them doing Harvey in 2023, a distinctly lowbrow play about a man who befriends a six-foot-tall invisible rabbit. But even Harvey was highbrowed-up significantly at Everyman. Reza's 'Art' script is already pretty highbrow, which is, I suppose, one of the things people like about it, at least, the sort of people who use the word 'sportsball' unironically in a sentence. Snazzing it up further with a posh set stretches the limits of relatability, which is forgivable as the set is a visual delight."
