Loosely based on the true story of The Philip Experiment in 1970s Toronto, David Skeele's The Margins tracks five paranormal investigators and one skeptical reporter as they visit a haunted manor. The team sets out to create and raise a spirit as a psychic experiment, one which ultimately spirals horribly out of control. Fresh from its sold-out, Helen Hayes Award-nominated production of Nightfall With Edgar Allan Poe comes Molotov Theatre Group's chilling production of this horror, which promises to fill DC Arts Center with realistic frights that are certainly not for the faint-hearted.

Ghost stories need a few key elements to truly scare: constantly building tension, atmospheric lighting and music, a cast that knows when to get out of the way, and just enough backstory to set audiences’ imaginations ablaze. Molotov Theater’s creepshow The Margins aspires to the hair-raising heights of The Conjuring, but ultimately falls short by trying to do too much with too little in too short a time.

"...There be eerie goings-on inside the DC Arts Center black box where Molotov Theatre Group is staging a spell-binder of a show about a psychic experiment to create a ghost by occultish committee. Although the horror play, titled The Margins, is short (just over an hour), it is long on suspense and double whammies-plus some preternaturally shrewd scripting by Playwright David Skeele."
