Pentecostal passion meets Sophoclean savagery in this timely retelling of the Greek tragedy of Oedipus, set to a stirring gospel score. Blind, destitute and racked with guilt, the ill-fated Oedipus encounters more obstacles as he seeks redemption and a final resting place at the sanctuary city of Colonus. Nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and filmed for TV with Morgan Freeman, The Gospel at Colonus returns to the stage in an intimate production by Avant Bard at Arlington's Gunston Arts Center.
